Cassettes

The cassette is an essential part of the bike's drivetrain. It determines the drivetrain's gear ratios and directly affects the bike's performance and ride experience. Cassette features: Tooth count: Determines the gear ratio; smaller sprockets suit fast riding, larger ones provide relief on steep climbs. Number of gears: Usually 7–13 sprockets in a cassette, with newer and narrower systems offering a wider gear range. Compatibility: The cassette must be chosen to be compatible with the shifter, chain and rear derailleur. Regular inspection and maintenance, such as cleaning the cassette and chain, extend the lifespan of the cassette. A worn cassette should be replaced in good time along with the chain to ensure optimal drivetrain performance.
