Choose a chain based on the number of gears. An 11- or 12-speed chain is narrower than a 9-speed chain, and the wrong chain will skip over the sprockets. EPT coating helps prevent rust, which is especially important on winter roads treated with salt. E-bike e10 and e12 chains are built to withstand the motor’s extra power.

Check chain stretch regularly. A stretched chain wears down the cassette and chainrings, meaning you’ll have a lot more to replace. Also read how to prevent e-bike chain wear.
