Saddles and saddle posts
Saddles and saddle blocks - at the heart of driving comfort and ergonomics. The saddle and saddle post have a direct impact on riding comfort, pedalling efficiency and wheel control. Choosing the right saddle and post can prevent stress and significantly improve your riding experience, especially over long distances. Saddles: sport saddles: narrow and light, designed for road and mountain biking where power transfer and aerodynamics are key. Comfort saddles: wider and padded, suitable for casual riding and city bikes. They distribute weight more evenly and reduce pressure on the seat bones. Ergonomic saddles: designed to support the hip position and reduce stress, often used on touring bikes and electric bikes. Fixed post: simple and lightweight, most commonly used on road and city bikes. Flexible pole: incorporates shock absorption for improved comfort on rough roads. Dropper post: adjustable saddle post, especially used on mountain bikes. Allows the height of the saddle to be adjusted while riding, improving the bike's handling on technical terrain. Materials: aluminium: Lightweight and durable, the most common choice. Carbon fibre: Very light and vibration absorbing, but more sensitive to shocks. Steel: Durable and economical, but heavier. Maintenance and adjustment: the saddle and saddle post should be adjusted to the cyclist's anatomy and riding style. Correct adjustment of saddle angle and height reduces knee and back pain. The saddle post should be checked regularly to ensure that the post does not move while riding.
